Time to show off your pixeling skills. A front cover is needed for a upcoming book called "Pixel Art 101." So brush off that old mouse of yours, and show us what you got. It can be isometric, non-isometric, it can be whatever your heart desires. Please be sure to check this time from time as a few things might change.

Current Entries
Here is a list of the current entries into the contest


Rules:

1. All entries MUST be pixel art. If there is any tools used (i.e., dodge, burn, blur, tool based anti aliasing) you will be disqualified.


2. All entries must be in the width of 378px wide by 490px height. This is non-negotiable. If your piece is smaller, add a fancy border, if it is bigger than that, start cropping. Check out [link] for a "basic template."


3. All entries must include the title: "Pixel Art 101". And it must be clearly visible.


4. Everything must be YOUR work. No bases from other people, no taking a piece of someone else's art. Ripping off someone else will not be tolerated.


5. No mature content (i.e., nudity, gore, scenes of extreme violence, if a 10 year old shouldn't see it, it shouldn't be on the cover)


6. Please, no copyrights on the actual cover, copyrights will be noted on the inside of the book, YOU WILL retain the original copyright for your work.^


7. Only gif or png format allowed. JPG, bmp, or any other format will not even be considered.

Deadline:
Moved to October 30th!

October 30th. Winner(s) will be decided by November 3th. If not enough entries are recieved, then the deadline MIGHT be extended, but don't count on that, figure on October 15th.


Submitting your work:

1. Upload it into the proper category at devaintART and note me or comment here and let me know where it's at.


2. Email it to me at admin[at]ensellitis.com (Replace [at] with @). I will then upload it to deviantART so others may see it as well.

Prizes^:
All entries will be judged on creativity, originality, and of course quality. Quality is your #1 objective here, remember, people walking into Barnes and Noble will be seeing this. If there are only 4 entries, or less, only 1st Place will be awarded. (These prizes are being paid out of my own pocket, that is why I am capping it like that, if there is more than 4, I will award it all.)

1st Place: Your design will be published on the front cover of "Pixel Art 101" and a 1 year deviantART subscription* OR a deviantSHOP item** (Up to $30 USD value), OR a WordPress.com invite (Priceless).

2nd Place: 3 month deviantART subscription* OR a deviantSHOP item** (Up to $10 USD value).

3rd Place: 1 month deviantART subscription*.

^ All winners will still be holding copyrights to thier original works. But will be required to fill out a release form so the work may be used, and this must also be completed before prizes will be awarded. If needed a SASE (Self addressed and stamped envelope) with the release form can be mailed to you. Since this is the cover and the most widely viewed part of the book, an actual signature is required.
